I just want to try it out, don't feel like buying since it isn't going to be a habit.

Well you could measure anything out to 4cm and jam it in your shoes, but it won't be very comfortable.. I've never worn lifts or insoles... But I've looked into them. Insoles are very cheap. If you want to be comfortable during this experiment then I would fork out the small amount so that you can fully focus on how you feel at your new height. Go to work, see your friends/family and see how you experience the world at 185cm.
