After reading up on LL, reading patient experiences etc, I know this surgery is a massive undertaking in pretty much all aspects. Do you guys think this will ever be an easy or easier surgery? Maybe Stryde will come back at 1/3rd of the price and be 5 times better. Or maybe that prolixo nail will be released and turn LL into a routine surgery.
Not as long as it remains distraction osteogenesis as regardless of nail or method you still have to break the bones and extend the soft tissues unnaturally for a long period of time. Possibly if they figure out a way to allow small lengthening rates (less than 0.5mm per day) while delaying bone growth to avoid preconsolidation.

LL will never be a routine surgery, it is brutal. Especially with externals, but even with internals you have to break your legs, be immobile and unable to work, and pay a large sum of money, very few people will take that endeavor to get taller. Even if stryde was half the price it is now, slightly more people would do it but it’s not like society would come flocking, I didn’t realize I was insane until I am actually going through the procedure and I realize how actually crazy I am for this

Stryde. But the price will never go down like people think it will, that is a stupid assumption. It may go down but not more than 1/3 in my opinion in first world countries. As of now, when stryde comes back I assume one day it will be possible to have it down for like 40k,
Many people don’t have even 5-10k saved up. It took me about 4 years to save up 80-85k. Even people that make 6 figures have expenses and especially people with children it will be very difficult to have this done

Yup, if they found a way to allow us to lengthen very slowly without preconsolidation, then this experience would be similar to puberty (except the bone breaking part). Your tissues will grow at a natural rate similar to how it does during puberty. Legs would still be sore and there would still be initial pain from the surgery, but the lengthening process would be much more manageable (and also longer to be fair). Most realistic option would be with a fully weight bearing nail.
How would a full weight bearing nail change things?
You won't be bed-ridden

You would be able to walk around to speed up your recovery.
For the lengthening itself it doesn't make much difference, that is more about speed. Also I believe internals are superior because there won't be pins sticking through your soft tissues during lengthening, but I don't think it makes a big difference overall in terms of recovery.
