I plead you all to critically think when looking at studies of average height online, for example I was shocked when this study claimed the average height for Germans in Hamburg is 183 cm which is taller than the average dutch. But reading the methodolgy closely you can see that it's a very innacurate study because they used survey's to ask men their height most men nowadays lie or dont know their height and add 2 inches to their height

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.n-tv.de/panorama/Hamburger-sind-die-groessten-article274882.html

Article is in german but you can translate it

I've seen other studies like the dinaric alps study that actually added over 2 cm to their average for their "estimations" making men 185cm which is another false number

Likewise  any dutch study you see claiming 6'1 as average was calculated using surveys

People need to see this.. especially the people on this website such as @canon

I may be 5'6 but all my friends are 5'10+ whenever we go around Europe to travel, everyone hears that European countries are tall (the stereotype of white males being tall) but it's just exaggerated massively. Here in the UK the average height is 5'9. In poor areas or ethnic areas it's 5'8. Only in the North would I say the average is 6'1.

We've been to the Netherlands (apparently the tallest country in the world) yet noone was significantly taller than people from the UK. I'd say they were 2 inches taller so 5'11. My shortest friend is 5'10 and tallest is 6'4. There were literally only about 5 people taller than 6'4 and only half the population was as tall or taller than my 5'10 friend. So, the study that says the Netherlands is the tallest country is the world might be true but the average height DEFINITELY isn't 6'2. It's probably 5'11-6'0. Again though this is in Amsterdam, I'm guessing in Northern Netherlands they're 6'2+ average. If you go USA you will go to LA or New York, LA average height is 5'8 because a lot of short South Americans and other short immigrants. White people are a minority in LA. If you go New York..again mostly Italian and other Eastern Europe backgrounds, Eastern Europe people are shorter than Western, average height in NY is probably 5'10. If you go Canada Toronto, a lot of Indians, other Asians and Africans.. average height 5'10.

IN SHORT - Wherever you go in the world, chances are, you will only visit the Capital city, this mean there will be a lot of tourists and on average Capital cities are shorter than Northern cities. So what i'm saying is don't listen to people on this forum who say you need to be 6ft+ to be considered average. Average height in London is 5'9. This is where you will go, No one will ever go to North England where average height is 6ft. If you go Netherlands, you will go Amsterdam where average height is 5'11 not 6ft+ like North Netherlands. The only countries in the world where the tallest average people live in the tourist cities are China and Japan because health is best in Beijing and Tokyo so the locals are taller. Whereas in Europe you will only find 6ft+ average people if you go to the right area.

Yeah these kind of studies are why you see guys that are 5ft 9+ moaning about their height-the studies have convinced them they're below average in stature or are extremely short.

Usually good reliable studies on height have a good sample size aka they include a lot of people that represents the country. I think the netherlands study that shows a 182 cm average did measure people from north and south. Also I dont understand why you think just rural people or northerners are taller sometimes its the opposite since richer people live in cities and have better nutrition

That being said in small socialist countires like netherlands or UK if we are talking about the same ethnicity of a person there should hardly be difference in height between locations in the country

Check this out if you click on the citation number on dinaric alps average height's source it tells you they added more than 1 cm to the final height , this is very unscientific

My point was that all Capital cities are multicultural so the average height balances out compares to rural cities and northern cities. In North England where 99% of people are white, the average height will be be 5'11-6'1 but who will ever go to North England? Nobody. They will go to London where White is 45%, Black 12%, South Asian 12% so the average height is 5'9 if even that + 800 000 tourists. Same with Netherlands, no one is going to Eindhoven where it's 100% white 6'1+ average. Everyone goes to Amsterdam which is 50% Dutch 50% foreign so a lot shorter than other cities in Netherlands. In Germany, you will go to Berlin, Munich where there is a massive Turkish Muslim population as well as other foreigners so the height is shorter than Kiel where it is 100% German 5'11+. Do you see my point? Or even Asian countries, you will go Mumbai, Noone goes to Punjab, Sikhs are very tall 5'10+ but the area they live in is tiny compared to the rest of India where average height is 5'5.

I do see your point, bruv but like I said usually good studies do indeed seperate based on ethnicity or background. In fact I remember seeing a study saying that both of your parents needed to be born in netherlands to participate in study. But Im sure it can be possible that non ethnic dutch can have also have non ethnic dutch parents

Also would you happen to have any height studies from england? From different regions? i would like to see them so i can dissect them and see if I find anything biased or subjective

I'm from a region of England that is 97% white with a population of 160K .At 5ft 5 I can say that I'm taller than most women(just about lol) and the average height of men is around 5ft 9 to 5ft 10 so I think the height studies are legit.

To be honest I've never noticed much height difference among second generation ethnics in the UK .Their variation in height and average height seem pretty simlair.
Unfortunately anecdote doesn't trump statistics here ,but I've been unable to find any data that breaks height down by race.

Edit:Average height for women in the UK lies in the 5ft 3-5ft 4 range
The average height of men lies in the 5ft 9-5ft 10 range .
I've lived all around England and this seems fairly accurate to me, even among University students.

I believe those statistics as well also dont fall for that meme that younger generation is a lot taller it's bull  1 generation height difference is so slight you cant even tell it  apart assuming there even is a difference. Just considering it takes half a century for men to increase by 1-2 inches tells you the same thing.

Also how much height are going to lengthen, O'l chap?

Indeed even then there's mounting evidence that height has pretty much plateaued in the west.

How much am I planning to lengthen? I'll probably lengthen 5.5cm bringing me to around 5ft 8 throughout most of the day.

If my height neurosis persists after that I'll save up for STRYDE but I'm confident I'll only need to lengthen tibias.
