Quote from: MeanGoal on December 11, 2021, 05:12:25 PMGreat video. One question about the pain. Is it possible to telework (work via VPN) while lengthening? That is, will the pain be too distracting that it will hinder your work during lengthening?
Yes, you can stilll work remotely via VPN. The pain was not a distraction (no pun intended). However, the real obstacle was fatigue, because you will be often busy, tired, and need much sleep. I took almost 3 weeks off work after surgery. After that, I worked 4 days a week (rather than the full 5 days) throughout lengthening. It was necessary to work part time because I was often tired and needed the rest and sleep (which is when your bones and soft tissue heals).
Precice 2.2 on femurs with Dr Assayag (March 2021)
Thanks for sharing this with us,
This is really helpful as I am also planning to do precise 2.2 and will take 3-4 weeks off the work for that,
However due to work constraints , I would probably need to flew back to home country and resume my work
I was planning to do wok like 3 days in office and 2 days at home
how crazy would that be and do you think that this can be managed especially that precise is non weight bearing ??
of course I would do all the PT, stretching before and after the working hours ( in the days where I will be at office)
Thanks,,

The Precice 2 nails are partial weight bearing and not designed for the patient to walk around the airport and fly across long distances while you are in the lengthening or early consolidation phase. It is also not designed for you to physically go to work (even part time or an office job) as well.
You will need a walker for short distances and a wheelchair for any longer distances, plus someone to push you on a wheelchair. Think about this.
Airport and Airplane
How are you going to get to the airport?
How are you going to get around on a wheelchair?
How are you going to transport your wheelchair, walker, and luggage to/in/from the airplane?
Where are you going to sit on the airplane? You will need a walker or wheelchair to board.
Upon arrival, how are you going to pick up and carry your luggage?
Upon arrival, how are you going to get home?
Workplace and Home
How are you going to commute to your workplace?
How are you going to get around with a wheelchair in your workplace?
How are you going to get to physical therapy center?
How are you going to do basic tasks when you are in a wheelchair or walker?
For the Precice 2 nails, you should find a place to stay nearby the surgery site during the lengthening phase and at least 4 weeks into the consolidation phase. Longer in the consolidation phase, until you can walk independently if you need it to get around in the airport.
The Stryde nails are full weught bearing and was designed for your plan, but the Stryde was recalled worldwide in early 2021.

Thank you very much
Really appreciate your response , I have contacted Dr Assayag also and the same was confirmed , unfortunately I got information form people that should be competent stating that using precise nail of 12.5 cm dia would be weight bearing and hence mobilization should not be an issue,,
I would really wither wait for stryde or go for the available mechanical clicking nails (which I am not really happy with the way they operate) but this would only work for me
Keep it up bro , wish you best of luck
I address one of the most frequently asked questions and concerns of patients planning for or about to go through leg lengthening surgery.
Proportions
One of the most fundamental and important questions about leg lengthening surgery.
Which to lengthen, the femurs or tibias?
Physical therapy progress video. Includes monthly X-rays and the end-of-year summary of my PT and overall progress.
December 26
9.3 months after surgery
6.5 months into consolidation
3.3 months walking independently
When did you reach consolidation stage 2: where you can walk around partial weigh-bearing with a assisting device?

I didn't see your post earlier, or else I would have replied earlier. This is my timeline.
Mid-June: Finished lengthening (7cm on femurs), start stage 1 consolidation. Used a walker or wheelchair (for longer distances) to get around.
Mid-August: Start stage 2 consolidation (2 months later). Use forearm crutches to get around. No longer need a walker or wheelchair.
Mid-September: Start stage 3 consolidation (1 month later). Start walking independently, but slow, awkward, and cautious. Used walking cane to help walk around. Work on restoring normal walking gait.
Serious Complications of Limb Lengthening Surgery. Be educated about them, and take steps to minimize these risks and complications.
