Quote from: Penguinn on November 15, 2015, 10:54:32 PMOkay I'm not a doctor but are you seriously going to buy Precice rods and go through everything for 2cm?

Yes Penguin, i'm not rich but i would rather do this cosmetic surgery in a controlled risk manner. I'm 177 cm but i'm in the Netherlands and i want to reach around 181-183 cm but without any unnecessary risk due to exceeding the required limit. I might be average in some countries but i'm planing to end it all here in the Netherlands and 177 cm is pretty short for a resident. So i will appreciate if i will get more constructive answers rather than the obvious ''you are tall already, dude'' lol!

You could easily lengthen 6 and go from 177 to 183 with Precice.
I don't think you're taking any big risks if you stay within 6cms(for this process).
If you do externals though, and want to be very safe don't exceed 5cms.

Thanks Penguin, yeah a 6 cm gain will ultimately suffice and it will be a clean 6 feet which it's a weak average for a guy here but way better since most of the women here are around 180 cm and above. But i have read other contradicting suggestions from other LL doctors like Dr. Franz who suggest 5 cm to be the safest for a limb for an internal. Hehe, externals is a nightmare and i have alot of respect for guys who have to take that road, height neurosis will never end as it is largely a part of our culture so unless our cultures start to be reinverted i guess we just have to grow taller. 6 feet tall isn't weak at all, unless you live on top of a beanstalk. Good luck!

I don't like the idea of externals either. Especially Ilizarov with needles sticking into your bone..maybe it's not that bad but in theory it looks horrifying.

That is definitely true, it is just my observation here in the Netherlands....it's like the food has been injected with growth hormone as the kids are getting even taller 6 ft 1 and above it's pretty normal. But hey, 6 ft will totally be a kill and i will really be happy to achieve that without a long term pain or discomfort.

Yeah, they are scary bunch of metals and i think you can easily get infected unless you are EXTRA careful, also considering the pain and the discomfort associated with these devices makes me pass that option without a second thought.

Have you done LL? Do you have a diary i could follow? I am so obsessed with these things at the moment and i'm digging all the info i can get just to reduce my ignorance level regarding this procedure.

As much as I hate to play into height neurosis, I've been to the Netherlands many times and at 178CM, I did not even feel average for a guy. I didn't feel short, but defitnitely bellow average. The equivalent of 173-174CM anywhere else in the developed world I suppose. At 178, many many girls are taller than me in the Netherlands. They don't seem to care much though, so that's the one saving grace for shorter guys.

So I understand you wanting LL at 177. Like me, you don't need it, but if it helps you feel ideal and makes you proud of your height instead of ashamed, then the choice is yours. It won't be a walk on the park though.

Your observation is right. The only thing which confuse people's observation regarding height when the visit here is you can't really see the whole picture since you are mostly distracted with been a tourist (new environment, coffee shops, red lights e.t.c) so the height difference won't sink in until all the excitement is gone, that's when you start to see how it affects your daily grind. I'm in a showbiz industry and it's quite cutthroat and sometimes a competitor will play a height/dominance card if he/she is out of moves.....now that is really annoying.

All in all, we all don't want to be considered less in our communities just for the mere difference of height but that's how our current culture is wired, so far there are two practical ways to face this problem.

1. CLL
2. Ignore the substandards

I don't think i have the guts to go with #2, simply because it will be a life time battle. The time i would waste wondering about how our society went nuts could totally be used for other productive and positive experience. I just hope in the near future our kids will have a less invasive means to correct height.

I've been to the Netherlands and it truly is awful compared to places like France, Spain and Italy strictly in terms of dating beautiful women. Most of the women there are really big and oafish. Good for gathering firewood in the harsh winters, but not good for getting you excited.

Now on topic... I read that Dr. Parihar does not like to to releases for cosmetic lengthening when there are other doctors including Paley who do it as a routine. Why does he prefer to wait and see instead of doing the releases as standard procedure for every case?
