Quote from: HeightJourney2021 on February 06, 2022, 02:29:33 AMNo, the surgery phase is when the doctor inserts the rod (if internal) into the femur or tibia and does the osteomoty.

Distraction Phase - Also known as lengthening phase, it is the time (usually for 2 to 3 months after surgery) when the patient is lengthening the bone (usually 0.75mm to 1.0mm per day) with the External Remote Controller (ERC) (my profile icon is an ERC).

Consolidation Phase - After lengthening is done, the patient is waiting for the new callus formation to turn into solid bone, and well as do physical therapy to restore muscles, walking gait, and athletic abilities.

Thank you professor

Quote from: HeightJourney2021 on February 06, 2022, 02:14:57 AMThe worst part for me was the difficulty sleeping during the distraction phase, though the "worst part" varies with patients. When a patient is lengthening, your body needs a lot of rest and sleep to heal (i.e. build up callus and then bone formation, as well as 3 weeks from surgery). However, you are stuck sleeping on your back, because it's very difficult to shift your body while sleeping. But your body naturally shifts around while sleeping to get comfortable. So about every 2 hours, I would wake up with muscle stiffness and poor circulation, then stretch to relieve the tightness and get better circulation for several minutes, then go back to sleep.

At least 2 hours of sleep was enough to get 1 REM cycle of sleep. Around 7 to 8 weeks after surgery, I managed to sleep on my side for some variety. Then when I finished lengthening, I noticed my required sleep started to slowly and steadily decline a few weeks after to more normal levels, I was sleeping longer (like 4 hours or more) before waking up, and my sleep quality improved.

yeah i guess worst part really depends. I've heard people sleeping just fine shortly after surgery.

Do you think a comfortable mattress pad or something like that would have helped? I read another persons diary who said they started sleeping after they got something to put on top of their mattress to make it more comfortable

This is a straight up lie.

Overdozer did 15cm and Apotheosis did 18cm. Stop trying to hold back other short men for your selfish goals.

I think a comfortable mattress pad could help a little, though sleeping would still be tough (but at least a little less tough). It should make it easier to lie/sleep on your side, because a softer mattress should alleviate the pressure from the upper locking screws (if you are a femur internal lengthened). It should allow you to shift your body a little more while sleeping.

No, you got me all wrong.
The lengthening amount actually depends on individuals and a little part of patients insufficient in the abilities of tolerating more lengthening can only lengthen no more than 10cm and just call it a day but I dunno the exact rate of this kind of patients of the whole but if you are so unlucky that you are just one of them then IMHO it's the worst part of LL cuz you can only achieve no more than 10cm with so many torments and so much money and time.
